Questions people ask
About the online downloader on this site and the free Chrome extension. If your question is about one site, its downloader page has the specifics.
Is it free?
Yes. Every feature is free. There is no account, no trial and no paid plan.
Which links work in the paste box?
Public links to a single video, post, pin or track. Profiles, boards and search pages list many items, so paste the address of the one item you want. Each downloader page shows the link shape for its site.
What are the limits on the website?
Up to 1080p and 3 hours per video, public links only, and a fair-use number of lookups per hour. The Chrome extension has none of these limits.
Why does the website say sign-in required?
Our server is a visitor and sees only what a visitor sees. Private, friends-only, members-only and paywalled posts are not visible to it. The extension works inside your own signed-in browser and can save those.
Is there a watermark?
No. We save the file the site serves to its own player and add nothing. Some sites, TikTok for example, put a watermark into some files themselves.
Do you keep the files?
No. A file streams from the site through our server to you and is gone when the download ends. Nothing is stored and nothing is tied to you.
Is it safe?
The extension is published on the Chrome Web Store and was reviewed by Google. It has no analytics and no tracking, and it does not read pages you have not asked it to download from. See the privacy policy.
Which sites work?
Most sites with normal video players, including streaming players that load video in pieces, plus direct video files and images. Paid streaming services that protect their videos with DRM do not work, and no extension can download those.
Where do my files go?
To your browser's Downloads folder, like any other download in Chrome. The file name is the video title. You can change that in Settings.
What file do I get?
A normal MP4 for video, MP3 or M4A for audio, the original JPG, PNG or WebP for images, and .srt for subtitles.
The video is not listed. Why?
Usually it has not started playing yet, or the page has been open for a long time. Play the video, press refresh in the popup, or reload the page. The full list of reasons is in this guide.
Does it work in Edge, Brave or Opera?
Yes. Any browser that installs extensions from the Chrome Web Store works the same way.
Why did a finished video disappear from the popup?
On purpose: once a video is saved it is hidden until you reload the page, so you never download the same file twice. It stays in the downloads page.
Can I keep the extension open while I browse?
Yes. Press the side panel icon at the top of the popup and it docks next to the page.
How do I remove it?
Right-click the extension icon and choose "Remove from Chrome". Your settings and history are deleted with it.
