When a video is not found

Almost every "not found" has one of a handful of causes. The first part is for the paste box on this website, the second for the Chrome extension. Try the fixes in order.

On the website: what the message means

In the extension: five reasons

1. The video has not started yet

Many players only fetch the video once you press play. Play it for a few seconds, then press the refresh button at the top right of the popup.

2. The page was open for a long time

Video links on some sites expire after a while. Reload the page, play the video, and open the popup again.

3. The video needs you to be signed in

Members-only and age-restricted videos only play when you are signed in. Sign in on the site, then open Settings, Privacy, and turn on "Use my logins". Your login is used for that download only and then deleted.

4. The video is protected

Paid streaming services protect their videos with DRM. Those cannot be downloaded by any extension, and the popup tells you so.

5. The site blocks downloads

A few sites refuse requests from anything but their own player. The error says "The site blocked the download". Reloading the page sometimes helps. If not, that site does not allow it.

The download starts but fails

  • Stops at the same place every time: the site cut the connection. Try a lower quality; smaller files finish before the site's time limit.
  • The file plays without sound: the site serves video and sound separately and the merge failed. Try again; if it repeats, tell us the link.
  • The file will not open: it is probably incomplete. Check the size against the one shown before download and try again.
  • Chrome says "blocked" or "dangerous": Chrome sometimes flags large downloads from new sites. Open chrome://downloads and choose Keep.

Still stuck?

Open the support page and tell us the page address and the exact message. Most problems are fixed within a few days, and a site that changed its player is usually working again after the next update.

Site-specific limits are listed on each page, for example Reddit, Twitch, Instagram and Facebook.
